• New CDC guidelines declared that wearing a mask in public is paramount to slowing the spread of COVID-19. 
• According to medical researchers, 20% to 40% of transmissions in China occurred two days before symptoms appeared. Just because you don’t feel sick doesn’t mean you can’t transmit the virus. 
• The virus is most transmissible through water droplets in the air. Masks help to block those droplets.

According to a study published by Wakeforest University Baptist Medical Center, it’s not just about covering your face, but what you use to cover it:

• The best homemade masks achieved 79% filtration as compared to surgical masks (62% to 65%) and N95 masks (97%). 
• Other homemade masks tested performed significantly worse, sometimes demonstrating as little as 1% filtration” Masks with just single layer designs or double layer fabrics made from lightweight cotton posed as most inferior.

Another study from the University of Adelaide’s Joanna Briggs Institute stated homemade masks may not have “a good seal all the way around the mouth and nose, and that’s the extra bit that makes it effective”. They continued:

• “While a DIY cloth mask may provide some filtration, it may not prevent the accumulation of moisture.’ “Once it becomes permeable due to moisture, it loses a lot of its effectiveness.”  

SOBO has access to many mask-producing factories in both the US and abroad. For our reusable mask, we wanted to feel confident that ours was the best possible fabric mask available. There are always less expensive options but when it comes to staying healthy, it’s probably not a great idea to cut corners or look for the cheapest option available. 

• Our custom mask is constructed using dual layered fabrics. 
• It fits snugly on your face,  ensuring a tight seal to prevent the accumulation of moisture.
• The exterior is composed of a moisture wicking polyester fabric, that not only works to prevent droplets in the air from permeating the mask, but can also be printed with full color graphics of your choosing to create a unique look.The interior is constructed of tightly knit cotton, found to be the most effective fabric by the Wakeforest study.

While we don’t claim that this mask is as effective as the N95 mask, used by hospitals, we do feel confident that its the most effective reusable fabric mask on the market. 

Step 1: Wash your hands.

Step 2: Only touching the elastic bands, pull them over your ears ensuring that the mask fits comfortably around your face covering your mouth and nose

Step 3: Do not touch the exterior of your mask when out in public. Avoid touching your face all together and resist the urge to adjust your mask

Step 4: When finished with the mask, carefully remove from straps and sanitize your mask.

Step 5: Wash your hands. 

How do I sanitize my mask? 

Masks should be cleaned as frequently as used and there are a few ways to care for your masks. We’ve listed a few options below: 

1. Place the mask in a pillowcase or laundry bag and wash in the washing machine with hot water and detergent. Tumble dry on high heat. 
2. Boil your mask in water for 5 minutes or more. Let air dry.
3. Iron your mask at 120˚ or place in oven for 20 minutes
4. Spray with 5% bleach solution. Let your mask air dry.
