SOBO SWAG, TRADE SHOW STYLE
By Dean Schwartz: It’s no longer news – SOBO does SWAG, and we do everything we can to make ours stand above the rest. In this week’s blog, we’re doing that by tackling trade shows and hitting you with three helpful tips to make your booth stick out like real SWAG should.
The benefits of a bumpin’ booth are two-fold. One, you can make a trade show-shattering impression there, and you don’t have to spend a lot of money to do it. But how you do it is the key, because getting the attention of your audience needs to take place in 5-10 seconds, or you’ve lost them altogether.
This is crucial because it can be the home to so many awe-inducing tactics. You can use uber-creative banners, backdrops and sublimated table covers to make a visual impact, just to name a few, but to truly take your SWAG to the max, you should meet the following criteria:
Should be Functional – Ask yourself: Does it serve a purpose and is it reusable? Would you be psyched to receive it? The answers to this are key, because the last thing you need to do is – again – give away some crap that people will never use. A few great ideas include pizza cutters, grippy jar openers, chop sticks, phone speakers and microfiber screen cleaners. And of course, don’t forget the SOBO special touch, which can add flair and flavor to, well, anything.
Make it Unique – Does it create the reaction… “wow that’s cool” or “I don’t have one of those” or “my kid would love that” or “these guys are super fun, creative, witty, etc.”? Because if it doesn’t, you should stop where you are and throw out the idea. Your brand is worth more than someone’s garbage bin because you executed a bad ideas.
Does it fit your brand or your current marketing campaign? It seems simple, but sometimes we forget. For example, if you’re a tech company, then give away a cool gadget that’s somewhat related to your product. Don’t forget to include your logo and/or website. Similarly, make sure what you give away isn’t too adventurous for your brand, or too subdued, either. If your SWAG is cool but people forget who gave it to them – or don’t understand why you gave it to them, you’ll be forgotten. Don’t let that happen.
