Case Study: Blue Man Group Boston

A combination of art, music, comedy, and technology culminate to create a dynamic show. It is a euphoric celebration of human connection that has universal appeal for a broad range of age groups and cultural backgrounds. New music, fresh stories, custom instruments, and state-of-the-art technology keeps the show fresh and relevant. With such an amazing show, we knew that their SWAG had to be top-notch.

Blue Man Group Custom VIP SWAG

THE CHALLENGE

Blue Man Group Boston was looking for gifts that their customers would use to enhance their VIP package. Being such a well-recognized show, it was important that their brand was expressed. So vivid colors and splashes of paint were a must. A VIP ticket purchase entitles you to, 1) a snap-back cap or a tote bag, and 2) a custom poncho, to keep clean of all the splashing paint. So our designers at SOBO got to work, and here are the products we settled on.

THE SOLUTION

THE CAP: The cap is a cotton twill, flat brim, snapback. But we added some custom touches. We printed a splash pattern underneath the brim, giving the cap personality but not making it so crazy the people won’t wear it. Embroidered on the front is the text, “Ready GLOW”, which is a slogan for Blue Man Group Boston. It appears to be a simple white embroidery. However, the word “GLOW” actually glows in the dark. 

THE TOTE BAG: Splashes of bright color cover this tote bag, including the bottom. It is important that VIP ticket holders leave the show feeling they received the fullest experience, so we included the text “Platinum Experience” printed in a repeat pattern on the handle.

THE PONCHO: Blue Man has always utilized a poncho for the VIPs in the front rows, but it was a basic clear poncho. To reinforce the platinum experience, we created a platinum-colored poncho and printed the full-color logo on the back.

THE RESULTS

The customized SWAG enhanced the experience of the show, giving VIP holders the unique encounter they were looking for. If you have not seen a Blue Man Group show, do yourself a favor and go see it! And don’t forget to make it a platinum experience.
