In fact, a staggering 43 percent of U.S. consumers own a promotional shirt. That means that for every person you see on the street, chances are almost 50/50 that they have a company’s logo emblazoned across their chest when they dip into their wardrobe.
And it’s easy to understand why, too. When it comes to promotional items, the options are endless, but there are few things that get used more than clothing. Pens? Maybe, but they tend to get lost. And not many other people will see them. USB drives? They might get some good use, but probably not more than once a week or so. And again, few but you will actually see it or use it. In addition, men are more likely to wear promotional shirts – 46 to 41 percent – than women, with the most popular age demographic being 21-34 years of age, where 49 percent of folks own a promotional shirt.
Targeting Hispanic consumers? With 54 percent of those identifying themselves as Hispanic/Latino saying that they own a promotional shirt, no other demographic has the same reach.
Heck, if you’re trying to divide red states and blue states, you might be surprised to find that a three party system exists in the world of promotional shirts. 44 percent of Republicans own promotional shirts, compared to just 39 percent of Democrats. But a red horse in the race, the Independents, take the crown with 48 percent of its members owning a promotional shirt.
